  1. When the man talked about how he also faces racism, does he realize how much damage their white kids are doing to minorities. The superintendent of that school has a fair reason to think that freedom of speech is okay, but he should also be aware that for anything, any comment, can be a scandal and there should always be a limit, especially in a school setting. School is where teenagers grow and mature but if the parents don't set that example neither will the kids, or the superintendent.

  2. The article "Then why didn't you stay in Mexico?" makes us see how many people prioritize their own race speaking as if their race needs to be superior to others. It is sad to see selfish people in the world only caring for their own good even though we are all humans. It is an unjustified treatment of inequality to see separation of race in school and not accepting what is different. Our differences make us unique, true to ourselves, and should be valued.

  3. I think that the comment to the Hispanic man was quite a racist thing to say. It is bad enough that the children in the school have to face racism during school between themselves. It just proves that the students that its not the students fault that they are racist it is because they are growing up in a racist household.

  4. I think that the White man did wrong and had no right to say that comment to the Hispanic man. The students attending the school and now the parents are also facing racism in the same building. The White man made it seem like he is superior to the other mans race and then acted like it was not a bad comment.

  5. In the school setting, it is a place where most of the students spend most of their day learning about things of the world. Those kids grow up and pass down their ideas to their kids. For example, the man in the video thinks out loud that the kids who are bullied for their race should go back where "they belong". Where is the wrong in that? Of course his race is superior in America. Why should he worry? In case you haven't caught on, that was sarcasm. He is the problem why kids at school see it as someone not hurtful. They can get away with it without getting punished because guess who thinks their precious child is the most perfect, kindful student? The school sometimes try their best in having the best environment, but it's the parents responsibility to show these kids that instead of hurting other peers, why don't they become something useful? It's also the student responsibility to make the world a better place? I mean, come on, how hard is it to say something nice in 10 words or less? The man shouldn't have said "go back to Mexico". There are in a meeting about racism and he is dumb enough to saying it out loud? I know this will sound cliche, but everyone is different and unique.

  6. It is clear that the white man does not feel pity for those who are facing racism. His comment "Then why didn't you stay in Mexico?
" proves that he is ignorant. The Latino man is fighting for his children, but at the same time, is fighting against racism alone. Him "staying in Mexico" would not have changed how horrible racism is at that school. It is evident that the problem of racism roots from one's household. The students cannot be expected to not be racist because it stems from their parent's point of view. Their parent's ideas have been instilled in them throughout their life. What can be done, is try to change the parents' and students' point of views on a race other than theirs. They should learn how to be compassionate, respectful, and understand that being different does not mean we are less valuable.

  7. I think the white man was a very racist individual who used a very bad excuse of "what about white racism". Don't get me wrong there is white racism in the U.S, but the way he executes this problem makes the white man a very insignificant opinion. The white man was definitely in the wrong because all the Hispanic man was doing is addressing a problem he was facing and the white man just comments a very mean and unnecessary comment.

  8. Racism is rampant in today's society, minorities are constantly being stepped on by people who believe that their race is superior. The white man, as does any other American, has freedom of speech, however, your race doesn't give you some sort of privilege over another. This comment is just yet another instance in which whites think they're the superior race. What did the man hope to accomplish in making this idiotic remark? What did he think was going to happen, showing up to a meeting to address racism, then making a racist comment. He only highlighted the issue of racism and how he's probably instilling these insolent ideas in his children's heads. The white man has clearly never experienced racism, he hasn't felt the damage it can do.

  9. The video "Then why didn't you stay in Mexico?' comes to show how people can definitely be cruel even in a time where people believe for it to be a time of peace. This is not correct. Everyone deserves to feel safe and free of racism. People come into the united states to feel safe for religious persecution, economic reasons, better life. And they get received with hate. The country that we call home is really diverse and children not learning from a young age that everyone is the same and skin color does not matter should be something that is taught since the day of birth. The school districts should have more diverse board members so young students could have their only opinions as well.

  10. The latino father was simply trying to advocate for his child getting unjustly profiled because of the color of his skin, but instead he was a victim of racism as well. The stereotype that all latinos come from a mexcian descent is widely believed among the white community. The caring father had all the right to try and keep a safe school environment for his child, he shouldn't have been interrupted much less with a claim that isn't supported. How are children supposed to think that everyone's equal when their own parents don't believe it. Even after he rudely interrupted the man, he had the audacity to say that whites get discriminated against too. That is not true. In my opinion I don't believe that it exists, for whites get more privileges than other minority groups. What many people are failing to realize is that this country is not dominated by one race it is a diverse country with many different cultures.

  11. It was ironic on how the white father asked why didn't they stay where they came from, when the nation is built on immigrates. The ones who came here were the Europeans. The Native Americans were the one who were originally here. How would the white man feel if a Native asked him the same question. He can't just say this is America when the continent they are on is North America and underneath there is South America. Racism can never be excused and saying a comment about going back is being a hypocrite. That man is just teaching his kids that it is okay to be racist when it is not. Sure it is true some people do make fun of the whites but that doesn't excuse you by trying to say to go back. That man doesn't know if the Hispanic man was born here in the U.S. or somewhere else. He can't base it off his looks.

  12. What many people consider great about America is how diverse it can be, how it can be one of the largest melting pots in the world. Some people however, have a mindset fixed in the old times when America wasn’t so open to diversity. An example of this is when the man was talking about the racism his kids were facing, and another man chimed in telling him to go back to Mexico. RIght and wrong are of course subjective, but what this man did is widely considered to be a bad thing. The people with those fixed mindsets are most likely the only ones that think this could be a good thing. Relatively, there aren’t that many people in America who still think like this, but they do have a louder voice than the people who don’t think like that. Worse off, this mindset is in some of the younger generations, like when the white football players of the school invited their Black teammates to a racist group chat. The good news is that this isn’t spread through families, the son of the man who told the Hispanic man to go back to Mexico openly said his views are different from his racist father’s views. The people that have this mindset chose this mindset and nothing can change their views except for themselves.

  13. Although millions of people have fought to put a stop to racism, our world unfortunately still deals with the issue. As shown in the video, the man shows no regard for the parents' or childrens' feelings. The father of the children who attend Saline High School was simply trying to fight for his own children after racial incidents, and instead, he was also put down by the ignorant, white man who sees no wrong in his actions. Everyone deserves to be treated equally and should not have to defend themselves or their roots to others.

  14. I thought that even though the white mans comment "then why don't you go back to Mexico" was very disrespectful, it was at the same time necessary. Necessary in the way that it helped open peoples eyes that racism still occurs today. It also occurs everywhere, even the places where you least expect it to happen. Racism is still common today among both adults and children, which is totally unacceptable.
